Ingredients

For Caramelized Hazelnuts

  • 2 cups roasted hazelnuts peeled
  • 1/2 Cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Water

For Affogato

  • 2 cups hot coffee or espresso
  • 1 Pint Ice Cream
  • Wafers optional

Instructions

  1. For Caramelized Hazelnuts
  2. Preheat oven to 300 Degrees Fahrenheit
  3. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper
  4. In a heavy bottomed pot heat the sugar and water together on medium heat. Don't stir
  5. When the caramel turns amber in color, add the hazelnuts and mix well until coated
  6. Throw the hazelnuts in the sheet pan
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes mixing them every 5-7 minutes
  8. Let it cool and enjoy!
  9. For Affogato:
  10. Place ice cream, wafers and hazelnuts in a glass, cup, mug or bowl
  11. Pour hot coffee over this mixture
  12. Enjoy!
