Halloween Spider Cupcakes

These delicious Halloween Spider Cupcakes are made with a yummy homemade chocolate frosting and cute candy eyes. Have the kids help you decorate the top. Yum!

Ingredients

For Cupcakes

  • 1 box Cake Mix
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1/4 cup Milk

For Chocolate Frosting

  • 1 stick Unsalted Butter softened
  • 1/3 cup Vegetable Shortening
  • 2/3 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 2 3/4 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon Milk or more
  • Black Twizzlers for the legs
  • Googly Eyes

Instructions

For Cupcakes

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix using a whisk or electric mixer

  3. Pour mixture into cupcake liners

  4. Bake for 15-20 or until browned on top

  5. Let them cool completely before icing

For Chocolate Frosting

  1. In a bowl, mix, together sugar and butter

  2. Add cocoa powder, shortening, and vanilla. Lastly, add the milk. If frosting is too stiff add a little more milk.

Assembly

  1. Spread icing over cooled cupcakes

  2. Add the eye candies on top

  3. Add the Twizzlers to the sides

  4. Enjoy!
