Ingredients

  • 200 grams dark chocolate chopped
  • 200 grams milk chocolate chopped
  • 250 grams butter cubed
  • 5 large eggs
  • 200 grams granulated sugar
  • 200 grams all-purpose flour sifted
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate and butter, stirring frequently. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • In a mixer, beat eggs and sugar on high speed for 5–7 minutes until pale and thick.
  • Add flour, salt, and vanilla. Mix until combined.
  • Slowly pour in the melted chocolate mixture while mixing.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 38–45 minutes, until the edges are set and the center has a slight wobble.
  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  • Invert onto a plate, dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve.

Notes

  • Do not overbake, the center should remain slightly soft for that molten texture.
  • Baking time will vary depending on your oven. Start checking at 38 minutes.
  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
  • Cake will continue to set slightly as it cools.
  • Can be served warm, room temperature, or chilled for different textures.
