Homemade Strawberry Fruit Roll-Ups Recipe
Are you looking for healthy lunchbox snack ideas for your kids? Then you should try this delicious Homemade Strawberry Fruit Roll-Ups Recipe. It only has one ingredient – Strawberries.
No sugar or additives were added. My girls go crazy for them so I make sure to prepare a few batches and keep them in a zip top bag in my pantry.
You can make your homemade fruit roll-ups with any fruit you’d like. We have done Strawberries, Mango, and Peach. Try to use fruits that are “meaty” and stay away from “mealy” ones like apples and pears.
My next fruit would be Papaya. This would make a perfect healthy lunchbox snack since it doesn’t require refrigeration at all. And this Strawberry Fruit Roll-Up is less sticky than the commercial kind but oh so chewy and leathery.
To make your Homemade Strawberry Fruit Roll-Ups simply grab a pint of fresh, stemless strawberries and puree them. I used my handy dandy Blendtec but you can certainly use your food processor. Do not add water, simply use the fruit puree.
Spread your puree on a silicone or parchment paper lined sheet pan evenly. Use a spatula to help you. Try to spread it as evenly as possible so it will all cook at the same time.
Use the lowest setting on your oven to bake. I baked mine at 150 degrees F for 8 hours. Start checking your strawberries at the 6-hour mark – When the leather is dry it is ready.
It is oh so easy! I know it takes a long time to bake but since the oven is low you don’t have to keep checking them all the time. After you try these Strawberry Fruit Rolls Ups I promise you will stop buying the commercial kind which is full of sugar and additives.
Here’s a collage of the entire process. As you can see, prep time takes less than 2 minutes and the 8 hours in the oven is so worth it.
