How can a simple 5-minute dinner idea that does not require any cooking taste so delicious? Each bite you take will let you appreciate layer upon layer of sweet, tangy, and salty flavor. All complimenting each other and are all very different. Try this nontraditional Open Faced Ham And Cheese Sandwich and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

At night sometimes you don’t want to cook but at the same time, you don’t want to eat leftovers or cereal. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a delicious, gourmet meal in minutes. Think of a salad or a sandwich. Both make excellent non-cook items for dinners. The only thing they need is assembly.

Open Faced Ham And Cheese Sandwich - delicious sandwich with goat cheese, pears, guava, watercress and ham topped with sweet honey. Easy, elegant and tasty!

Last week my parents arrived from New York. My mom in the car started raving about this open-faced sandwich she ate at Le Pain Quotidien with a gluten-free bread that really tasted like bread (instead of those dry tasteless breads she’s used to buying at the supermarket).

She loved the bread so much that she bought a couple of loaves and brought them over to Miami. And now you can see it in this open-faced ham and cheese sandwich.

She told me about all the delicious combinations they served over at Le Pain Quotidien and how they combined fruit, jellies, artisan cheeses, and charcuterie in their open-faced sandwiches.

Hearing all about these delicacies made me hungry, so she got inspired and went to the supermarket. Honestly, this recipe is hers, not mine. I just took the pics 😉

My mom made this sandwich with a Latin flair by adding the guava paste. We used a mandolin to slice it very thinly, we did the same with the pear so it’s easier to eat. No utensils are required!

I hope you can try this delicious Open Faced Ham And Cheese Sandwich at home. If you do, please upload a pic on Instagram and tag me @Livingsweetmoments or use the hashtag #LivingSweet. I promise to repost it.
