Black Friday Do’s & Don’ts

Black Friday is tonight (yay!). Some of you may want to venture out to grab some great deals. So I’ve put together a list of a few  Black Friday do’s and don’ts so you will have a great shopping experience.

Before you go out:

DO check your store’s Black Friday ads:  You can easily browse them in my blog. Go to the Deals tab under Black Friday.

DO write down a list of your desired items

DO price check if the item is truly a bargain. Sometimes that $800 TV that they are advertising for $500 in one store may be $500 regular price in  other stores.

DO check your desired store schedule. Every year they open up earlier and earlier.

DO have a strategy. For example: if you are interested in buying only home appliances. Go directly to that area upon entering the store. It will make it easier for you to navigate through the mass traffic.

When you get to the store:

DO take warm and comfy clothes if you’re going to be in line for a long period of time.

DON’T take your kids. If you can, leave them with a relative. Crowds can get really violent and you don’t want your child scared or squashed by other people.

DON’T go alone. If you can, take a friend or relative. It’ll make your shopping easier and faster.

DO stick to the list. When you enter the store you will see tons of deals like toasters for $3. Impulse shoppers will start buying those like crazy. But think: do you really need that $3 toaster? what about the quality?. If you stick to the list, you will end up spending less and buy the items you really need.

DO keep your calm, even when everybody else is running around. Be courteous to other shoppers.. I saw a video last year of an old lady stealing an HP printer of another woman. This was filmed at the Hallandale Walmart.

DO Stay safe and  BE AWARE of your surroundings at all times.

DO some of your shopping ONLINE. Last year lot’s of store were offering the same Black Friday prices online.

Do you have additional tips and strategies? Please share them in the comment section. Happy shopping!

    Do:
As soon as you walk into a store you want to browse, have your husband or shopping partner, get in the check out line. By the time you are done looking and trying things on, he will be at the front waiting. Then, you can return the favor by holding a place in line at his favorite stores.

I did exactly what Renee did: once I started looking I had my husband stand in line if it looked like there would be a wait, and he let others pass one by one to the cashier if I wasn’t there yet. Saved a lot of frustration and time! And boy, was he a trooper!
