Chocolate Avocado Tart

I know what you’re thinking: what does guacamole have to do with my dessert? I recommend you give this Chocolate Avocado Tart a try and you will be hooked. Not only does it taste amazingly delicious, it also is super easy to make and even good for you.

Don’t feel guilty about eating dessert. This recipe does not contain chemicals, artificial sweeteners, or preservatives. It doesn’t even need to be baked. As you will see in the video below, it’s foolproof.

Being born in Venezuela, avocados were my everyday staple. Every meal we ate had either avocado inside the salad, or they were part of a meal.

Even though I live in the states, I still keep that same diet. Every Monday I buy 6-7 Hass Avocados for my family to eat during the week.

The trick is to get the at various stages or ripeness and if you slice one open and eat half, keep the other half WITH the pit wrapped in the fridge to prevent them from turning brown.

A few weeks ago I went to a natural food restaurant with my cousin Taly who is a Yoga instructor and for dessert, she ordered the “special raw chocolate tart”. I cringed and made a sour face at her. Butter, eggs, and cream are my go-to ingredients for cakes and pastries, the word raw made me a little uncomfortable.

When I gave it a try I was instantly hooked. My yogini cousin gave me the “I told you so” look and then proudly said that the secret ingredient in this tart was AVOCADO. What!?!?! Who knew avocados and chocolate made an amazing combination?

Avocados are a good source of fiber and folate per 50g serving.

Here’s a cool video on how to make them:

I love to make fresh guac, but my favorite thing to do with an ripe avocado is to slice it, and dip it in a light batter, fry until golden brown. Best thing ever, we had it at Taco Truck, it turns an avocado into even more of a desirable snack!
