3 Creative Ways of Drinking Coconut Water

We all know that amazing benefits that coconut water has. Not only does it contain calcium, vitamins, and antioxidants, it’s perfect after working out since it replenishes the minerals lost during exercise. Especially potassium and magnesium.

The downside: according to a few friends of mine, coconut water tastes like “old socks”, “bug spray” and/or “dirty water”.

Personally, I do not agree with them.

I grew up in Venezuela, where coconuts are everywhere.

Right on the beach, there were men with machetes that cut off the tops of the coconuts and inserted a drinking straw.

Doesn’t get any fresher than that.

After drinking the water, the man would cut the coconut in half and used the top as a “spoon” to scoop out the meat.

Now every time I drink coconut water, I am reminded of my childhood and all those weekends and holidays spent on the beach.

For those of you who dislike the taste, here are 3 Creative Ways of Drinking Coconut Water that will give you all the health benefits of the coconut without the “old sock” flavor.

1 – Freeze Coconut Water into Ice Cubes.

Easy right?

Grab some empty ice cube trays, fill them up with coconut water, and freeze.

You can add them to your favorite drinks, and the flavor will be diluted.

I recommend first trying them up with a tall glass of cold water. It’ll give it a nice sweet taste, but no one would guess the ice is actually frozen coconut water.

Another ice cube suggestion is to combine the coconut water with your favorite juice and freeze.

2 – Add it to your favorite fruit and veggie smoothie

Freeze your favorite fruits, veggies, and add them to a blender with coconut water. You’ll never guess it’s there, plus you get the added benefits of the fruits and veggies.

I always make little baggies of cut up fruit and leave them in the freezer. Then when it comes time to blend, I throw in some fresh spinach or kale with coconut water and voila!

A delicious beverage with tons of vitamins, minerals, and FIBER. Perfect after working out or as quick breakfast before taking the kids to school.

Believe me, no coconut taste detected.

3- And this one is the No-Brainer – Just buy Welch’s 100% juice with Coconut Water

See my lightbulb glasses? They’re there for a reason.

Because Welch’s came out with a genius idea: their delicious 100% juices with coconut water added. Its great taste and refreshing goodness will have you coming back for more.

If you’re not a fan of freezing ice cubes or making smoothies, slide straight to creative way #3 and drink from the bottle (shhh I won’t tell). Does not get any easier than this.

And in case you’re worried about nutrition. Keep in mind that Welch’s 100% juice has 30% less sugar and only 100 calories per serving.
