Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Mother’s Day is around the corner and it’s time to start planning a feast for the mom/mentor in your life. I was so flattered when Barilla® asked me to recreate their famous Spaghetti with San Marzano Tomato And Meat Sauce for the blog. The flavor is so delicious and robust that it’s perfect to serve for Mother’s Day. Plus it feeds a crowd!

Mother’s Day is kind of a bittersweet day for me. My mom and my grandmother are both in Venezuela and I never get to celebrate it with them.

My daughters are super sweet and shower me with lots of drawings and items they made in school and my poor husband is left with the burden of making plans for us to do, which, between you and me, it’s not his strong suit.

I wish someday we can spend it again with our mothers and grandmothers but for now, I’m going to rely on this delicious  Spaghetti with San Marzano Tomato And Meat Sauce made with Barilla® Pasta.

I love this dish because it’s made with San Marzano Tomatoes. These tomatoes are imported from Italy and available here in a canned form.

They ripen and give off a sweet deep flavor that compliments the pasta and meat very well. You can use any kind of tomato you may like but I strongly recommend you try the San Marzanos.

Don’t worry, they are super easy to find. I bought them and all the other ingredients at any store. Just go to the canned tomato aisle and look for canned tomatoes that are imported from Italy.

Here’s a step-by-step photo of the process on how to make this Barilla® Spaghetti with San Marzano Tomato And Meat Sauce.

EASY! Cook your pasta according to the package’s directions. To make the sauce, start by sautéing the carrots, celery, and onions in olive oil. Then add the beef and brown.

Deglaze it with white wine. Pour in the San Marzano tomatoes and water. Simmer until the liquid reduces and the sauce becomes thick.  Drain the pasta and then mix it with the sauce. Top with fresh grated Parmesan cheese and enjoy.

I hope you can try this delicious Spaghetti with Meat Sauce at home. If you do, please upload a pic on Instagram and tag me @Livingsweetmoments or use the hashtag #LivingSweet. I promise to repost it.
