Layered Berry Overnight Oats
Happy New Year and welcome to the world of quick and healthy breakfasts that are delicious, nutritious, and of course, colorful.
As a busy mom of two, my mornings here are hectic. Between having their breakfast ready, brushing their hair (which is a pain), and searching for that field trip form permission slip that is always getting lost, I run around like a mad woman.
Thank goodness for coffee, otherwise I’d be a zombie.
In order for my mornings to go smoothly, I try to make filling recipes that are made quickly. So overnight oats are really a life saver.
By the way, this ain’t your regular boring oatmeal. Remember when you were little and had to eat that gummy oatmeal that was flavorless?
Don’t worry, you will fall in love again with oats after trying this recipe. It looks like more like an elegant dessert than a breakfast item. That’s why my kids love eating it so much.
One spoonful and you’ll taste the sweet and tart berries, while enjoying two contrasting textures.
You can mix and match any flavors you may like. For the bottom I made a strawberry overnight oats and topped it with a blackberry and blueberry smoothie.
You can get all the ingredients needed for this recipe at your local Publix.
My two secret weapons are definitely the Silk Almond Milk and Oikos Triple Zero.
Silk Almond Milk has wonderful flavor, low calories, no cholesterol and no saturated fat. On the other hand, Dannon Oikos has zero has 0 fat, 0 added sugar, and 0 artificial sweeteners – plus 15g of protein.
The high protein of Dannon products will keep you full until lunchtime without the 11 am slump. It’s sorta like a sweet and delicious boost to your breakfast.
To start, simply blend the strawberry, Silk Almond Milk, vanilla, and honey in the blender.
Pour this creamy mixture into the oats.
Close the jars, shake them, and refrigerate them for a few hours. They will absorb the liquid and become creamy.
Next, blend the Dannon Oikos Triple Zero and frozen blackberries and blueberries together.
Pour smoothie on top of your oats and enjoy!!

This recipe was so easy and so delicious, my husband at yogurt for the first time! It was a little thinner than I would prefer. Maybe because I used fat free milk, not sure. But I’m making another batch and want to get it right. My husband already bought fat free milk again so I have to use it! Any suggestions
Hi Sue! If you want it thicker simply place a bowl, top with a paper towel-lined strainer and pour the yogurt into the strainer. Leave it in the fridge for a couple of hours and you’ll see the liquid run to the bowl. You’ll be left with creamy thick yogurt in your strainer 🙂
