Smoked Salmon Canapés with Dill (Easy 5-Ingredient Appetizer)

These smoked salmon canapés are creamy, fresh, and ready in just 10 minutes. An easy, elegant appetizer perfect for parties and entertaining.
Prep Time10 minutes mins
Course: Appetizer
Keyword: smoked salmon canapes
Servings: 16 canapes
Calories: 73kcal

Ingredients

For Tangy Cream Cheese

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill chopped
  • Pinch of salt optional

For Assembly

  • 4 oz smoked salmon thinly sliced
  • 16 crackers sturdy, any variety
  • Fresh dill for garnish

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, lemon juice, dill, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  • Spread or pipe a dollop of the cream cheese mixture onto each cracker.
  • Cut smoked salmon into small pieces and gently roll or fold into a rose shape.
  • Place salmon on top of each canapé.
  • Garnish with fresh dill and serve immediately.

Notes

• Make ahead: Prepare the cream cheese mixture up to 1 day in advance and refrigerate. Assemble just before serving to keep crackers crisp.
• Crackers: Use sturdy crackers that won’t get soggy. Whole-grain, seeded, or flatbread-style crackers work best.
• Substitutions: Swap cream cheese for goat cheese or mascarpone for a different flavor profile.
• Add-ons: Top with capers, thin cucumber slices, or a sprinkle of lemon zest for extra flavor.
• Low-carb option: Serve on cucumber rounds instead of crackers.
• Storage: Best enjoyed fresh. Once assembled, canapés may soften if left out too long.
• Presentation tip: Roll the smoked salmon into small rose shapes for an elegant, party-ready look.
