Winter’s the time to break out of the old crock pot. Since lately I’ve been busy with friends and family visiting from abroad, I’ve been trying to cook meals that require zero or little babysitting.
This Slow Cooker Chili Recipe is super easy to make and delicious. Make some extra to enjoy the leftovers and serve with different toppings so your family can mix and match their favorite ones.
I am a sucker for sour cream and green onions, my daughters prefer cheese and my hubby is a sour cream fan. Tortilla chips and chopped tomato are also a great topping idea.
This Slow Cooker Chili Recipe is so saucy that you’ll need some French bread to soak up all that goodness. I made mine with ground beef, but you can certainly substitute for ground turkey or chicken.

Slow Cooker Chili Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 2 tbsp butter
- 28 oz tomato sauce 2 cans
- 1 can tomato paste
- 1/2 white onion
- 2 tbsp cumin
- 3 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 cup cooked bacon
- 8 cloves garlic minced
- 3 tbsp sliced chives optional
- 2 tbsp shredded cheese optional
Instructions
- First, saute the onions in butter. As you begin to saute the onions, cook your bacon in another pan.
- Add ground beef, garlic, and continue to brown the beef.
- Put all the seasonings, meat, garlic, onions, and bacon in the crockpot and then cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 6 hours.
- Serve with chives or cheese on top (or any of you're preffered toppings)
