Slow Cooker Pulled BBQ Beef Sandwiches

Delicious and tender beef slow cooked in a homemade BBQ sauce and served on a toasted hamburger bun. Perfect for parties and get together’s. Nothing brings families together like comforting food made with love.

Now that the temperatures are rising, give your oven a break and don’t heat up the whole kitchen. This Slow Cooker Pulled BBQ Beef will cook by itself while you enjoy some time in the pool. Make a huge pot and let people assemble their own sandwiches. You can even leave them in the fridge and heat them out throughout the week or freeze the leftovers.

Slow Cooker Pulled BBQ Beef Sandwiches: delicious and tender beef slow cooked in a homemade BBQ sauce served on a toasted hamburger bun. Perfect for parties

Last month when I traveled to Alabama, I got a real taste of Southern Cuisine and Hospitality. Their food is definitely out of this world. Simple flavors that come from the heart. Real flavor history passed down through generations. All these different flavors gave me the inspiration behind these Slow Cooker Pulled BBQ Beef Sandwiches. The meat just melts in your mouth with a sweet and smoky sauce. Just grab some extra napkins because it’s about to get messy!

If you don’t like hamburger buns, you can also serve them over lettuce cups, hoagie rolls or even on top of homemade grits. I love combining the sweetness of the sauce with tangy pickles to balance out the flavors. Also, chips or french fries make a crispy side dish.

Did I mention how easy these are to make? NO special cooking experience required. Simply mix the sauce ingredients and place them in the slow cooker with the meat.

Then shred, top with sauce and enjoy. People will think you slaved all day in the kitchen when the crock pot did all the hard work.  I left mine to cook overnight on low for 10 hours. That way, I did all my morning errands and wasn’t bending my back to get food ready by lunchtime.

Ingredients
For BBQ Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Flakes
  • 1/2 cups Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 oz Bottle of prepared BBQ Sauce 16 (use 8 oz)
For Beef
  • 3-4 lbs Beef Chuck Roast or any other cut you'd prefer
  • Salt + Pepper to taste
  • 8 Hamburger Buns
Instructions
  1. Place the meat in a cutting surface, trim the excess fat and pat it dry with a paper towel. Rub salt and pepper all over. Cut into 2-3 pieces
  2. In a bowl, place all the sauce ingredients together. Mix with a spoon until combined
  3. Place the sauce inside the crock pot
  4. Add the meat inside the crock pot as well. With a spoon turn the beef so it is coated evenly with the sauce on all sides
  5. Cook on low for 6-8 hours
  6. When meat becomes tender, remove from the crock pot and set it on a cutting board
  7. Skim the fat from the sauce and place all the liquid on a small saucepan over medium low heat
  8. Simmer the sauce for 10-20 minutes so it can reduce and thicken (optional)
  9. With 2 forks, shred the beef
  10. Toast the hamburger buns
  11. Place shredded meat on top of the bun, pour sauce and top with the other bun
  12. Enjoy!

hi there. A quick question please? When you say “1/2 of a bottle of bbq sauce, 24 oz”, do you mean 1/2 of a 24 oz bottle of sauce or 3 cups of sauce goes into the cooker? Thanks for the clarification. :^) Eric

Hi Eric! Sorry about the confusion, I meant around 8 oz (for a 16 oz bottle) I’ll clarify it in the recipe too! Let me know how it turns out

STOP! No need to search for another BBQ beef recipe. This was divine! I used a 4 lbs roast and cooked for 4-5 hours on low. I may add some chopped onions next time. IMO, no need to simmer the sauce. I’m going out
Of town this w/e and might make it again next week!!

Can I use boneless beef ribeye roast? I got a great deal on it. Thank you

Hi Michelle! I wouldn’t put that cut of beef in the slow cooker. Ribeye Roast is meant to be grilled/broiled. For the slow cooker use cheaper cuts of beef
