I love using this time of year to get inspired in the kitchen. These flower pot cookies are playful, colorful, and easy enough for little hands to help decorate.
My daughters loved eating their favorite chocolate chip cookies in “cup” form. Honestly, cookie cups filled with chocolate spread and topped with cookie crumbs? That is a very strong life decision.

What Are Flower Pot Cookies?
Flower Pot Cookies are cookie cups baked in a muffin tin, filled with chocolate spread, pudding, frosting, or another creamy filling, then topped with crushed chocolate cookies to resemble dirt.
To finish the look, add paper flowers on toothpicks, edible flowers, candy flowers, or piped frosting flowers. You can make them as simple or as fancy as you want.
For this version, I used chocolate chip cookie cups, chocolate hazelnut spread, crushed chocolate cookies, and cute paper flowers for a spring look.

Filling Ideas For Flower Pot Cookies
You can fill these cookie cups with anything your heart desires. Chocolate hazelnut spread is delicious, but there are so many other options.
- Chocolate pudding
- Vanilla pudding
- Whipped cream
- Marshmallow fluff
- Chocolate ganache
- Buttercream frosting
- Peanut butter filling
After adding the filling, sprinkle crushed chocolate sandwich cookies on top so they look like “dirt.” It is cute, easy, and kids love this part.
How To Make Flower Pot Cookies
Making them is easy. Bake chocolate chip cookie dough in a muffin tin to create cookie cups. Right after baking, press the center of each cookie with the back of a wooden spoon to make an indentation.
Once the cookie cups cool, fill them with chocolate hazelnut spread, sprinkle crushed chocolate cookies on top, and add a cute flower decoration.

Tips For The Best Flower Pot Cookies
- Grease the muffin tin well so the cookie cups release easily.
- Press the centers while the cookies are still warm and soft.
- Let cookie cups cool completely before adding filling.
- Use finely crushed chocolate cookies for the “dirt.”
- Add decorations right before serving if using paper flowers.

Can Kids Help Make These?
Yes! These Flower Pot Cookies are a great spring dessert to make with kids. They can help press the cookie cups, spoon in the filling, sprinkle the cookie crumb dirt, and add the flowers.
For the flowers, I bought paper ones in the scrapbook section of a craft store and glued them onto toothpicks. You can also use piped frosting flowers, candy flowers, edible flowers, or omit them completely.
Just make sure guests know if the flowers are decorative and not edible.
