My Pixels Movie Interview with the Cast (Behind the Scenes)

I had the incredible opportunity to watch the movie Pixels in New York City and interview the cast the next day. From Adam Sandler to Josh Gad, here’s what really happened behind the scenes.

This weekend in New York City was unforgettable. Not only did I get to watch Pixels, but I also interviewed the cast and director the very next day. Honestly, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world.

The cast includes Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, and Josh Gad. In addition, the movie was directed by Chris Columbus, the same director behind classics like Home Alone and The Goonies.

During the press junket, I had the chance to speak with Chris, Adam, Kevin, Michelle, and Josh. Right away, I noticed how relaxed and fun the atmosphere felt. Because they already knew each other well, their chemistry made the entire interview hilarious from beginning to end.

Interview Highlights with the Pixels Cast

Working with Adam Sandler and Kevin James

Josh Gad: These guys have been idols of mine forever. I grew up watching Adam on Saturday Night Live, and I always wanted to work with Kevin. Also, Michelle is incredible. Chris Columbus basically defined my childhood.

Michelle Monaghan on Her “Girl Power” Role

Michelle: It felt awesome. My character is a lieutenant colonel and weapons designer, which made the role so fun. She’s strong, confident, and incredibly smart.

Did the Cast Play Arcade Games to Prepare?

Chris Columbus: I only knew Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. However, for the movie, I had to learn games like Galaga and Centipede.

Adam Sandler: Arcade games were our whole life growing up. You had to choose between food or playing games, and honestly… we chose games.

Favorite Moments and Funny Stories

Kevin James: I didn’t even play. I went straight to McDonald’s instead (laughs).

Michelle: We had scenes where we couldn’t stop laughing. Some of the improv moments were unforgettable.

Josh Gad: Pac-Man saying “Waka Waka” was one of my favorite moments.

Filming the Donkey Kong Scene

Chris Columbus: We actually built the Donkey Kong set instead of relying only on CGI. As a result, the actors could physically interact with the environment.

Adam Sandler: It was intense. We were really high up, and Kevin definitely didn’t love that.

Behind the Scenes Atmosphere

Adam: Every combination of people on set worked. Everyone genuinely had a great time.

Kevin: The craziest one was Chris… he would go on a 5-mile run during lunch.

Chris: It wasn’t an easy shoot, but everyone gave it their all. That’s what made it special.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this experience was unforgettable. Not only did I get a behind-the-scenes look at a major Hollywood production, but I also got to see how much fun the cast had working together. Because of that, it made me appreciate the movie even more. Check out my personal review HERE.
