Moist Vanilla Chocolate Bundt Cake
There is nothing more delicious than taking a bite out of a freshly baked moist bundt cake. What’s so cool about this one, is that we hid the chocolate on the inside, while disguising the outside as a plain vanilla cake.
If you’d like, you can swirl and marble your 2 flavors. But I personally, love the look and taste of them separately. The outside is crusted with toasted almonds to give a nutty flavor and crunch.
I dusted the top of this Vanilla Chocolate Bundt Cake with powdered sugar. You can add a vanilla or chocolate glaze or simply leave it as is. Depending if you’re serving it for breakfast, snack, or dessert.
Unfortunately, I can’t take credit for this recipe. It is actually my grandma’s. She calls it “Dalmatian Cake” and she makes it often when receiving guests. It’s easy, moist, and enjoyable by kids and adults alike.
The cake has a very subtle flavor that is not overly sweet or indulgent. My grandma flavors it with lemon zest, pure vanilla extract, and rum extract. It’s an amazing combination.
When I was growing up, there was always a bundt cake in the kitchen counter. Different flavors depending on the week/season. After school, we’d come home and have a slice with a cold glass of milk while doing homework. It was a routine that I loved.
Did you know that an 8 oz. glass of milk contains 9 essential nutrients, including B vitamins for energy, protein for lean muscle, vitamin A for a healthy immune system and bone-building nutrients, including calcium and vitamin D? So many benefits in one glass.
I give my kids milk to drink on a daily basis since the American Academy of Pediatrics to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, experts recommend including milk in kids’ diets.
That’s because decades of research and hundreds of scientific studies support the benefits of milk and milk’s nutrients – especially for growing kids. Click HERE for more information.
Here’s a quick video that shows you how easy it is to prepare it.

- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- non-stick spray
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit

Can I use white box cake and if so what ingredients do I leave out…also where is frosting recipe
Tiffany says
Hi Hope, if you use a white cake mix then just make it using the box instructions. Then in a separate bowl mix a little bit of batter with cocoa and proceed with the recipe.
Baking time will need to be adjusted. I don’t use frosting for this bundt cake since the flavor is very rich. A dusting of powdered sugar may be added when the cake cools.
