Spectacular Chocolate Cake Recipe

Now that the Holidays are in full swing, I want to take advantage of the momentum by baking showstopper desserts. This spectacular Chocolate Cake Recipe with frosted cherries will not disappoint.

The cake is chocolate with chocolate ganache and it’s decorated with these beautiful “snowed” in cherries to create the “wow factor”.

Imagine serving this beauty at a party. It will surely be a hit! Not only they will love the chocolaty taste but also the beautiful cherries that are in season. I served it last night at my Thanksgiving dinner and everybody loved it, even the kids.

The sheen of the ganache is absolutely spectacular and it goes on the cake super silky. The cake has a more brownie like texture than regular cake. It’s fudgier with a deep taste. Absolutely delicious!

I personally can’t take credit for this Chocolate Cake Recipe. A few years ago, my aunt gave it to me because it was the one that my grandmother used to make, I remember she decorated it hers with silver dragees.

I decided to add my personal touches to the recipe to make it more modern. It turned out spectacular. It’s been a long since I ate it and it was as if I was right at my grandmother’s house again (she died when I was very young).

This Chocolate Cake Recipe is a tad different than the ones you are used to seeing. The fudgy texture comes from the use of only egg yolks instead of the whole egg.

The Ganache requires a little elbow grease. You have to stir for quite a while, BUT it is totally worth it, AND at least you are burning off some of the calories that you will ingest.

I hope you will try this spectacular Chocolate Cake Recipe and let me know how it comes out. The cherries are the icing on the cake.

Thank you Sue! the ganache is runny at the beginning and then sets up in the fridge. It does stay soft but not runny.
