Black eyed peas are not only cute, but they’re delicious as well. I love their creaminess and their ability to absorb spices very well.
At the end of the year, we tend to host more gatherings at home. You can imagine the work that it takes to prepare for each one.
I try to keep it simple and choose items that I can make in advance. Especially, when it comes to no-cook recipes like this one.
The only downside to making things in advance is that I have to hide them from my husband. He says that he “can’t help it” and has eaten many foods that were meant to be served at parties.
So now I have to come up with ingenious ways to disguise them. Either behind the Brussel sprouts (which he hates) or in empty jars of mayo.
If you don’t have black eyed peas at home, substitute for any other bean. White cannellini, black, or chickpeas work well with this hummus.
To make your very own crackers check out this yummy homemade saltine crackers recipe. They would make an excellent pair!
