This easy ceviche recipe requires only a few ingredients and no cooking! The perfect low-fat appetizer to serve at any party or get-together.
Easy Ceviche Recipe
My husband and I LOVE Ceviche. If you’re not familiar with this dish, it’s a Peruvian recipe that’s healthy, low-fat, easy to make, and delicious. There’s no “heat” involved in the cooking of the fish.
The fish and vegetables are cooked by lemon juice. How cool is that? I can promise you that after you try it, this Easy Ceviche Recipe will become part of your weekly menu.
The final touch to this dish? Some super crunchy corn nuts up top or crispy corn. These salty crunchy morsels go great with the soft and tangy fish. It’s a well-rounded recipe flavor-wise.
Some people have it as appetizers but I love to eat it as an entree. You can serve them on top of tortilla chips if you’re hosting a party or simply place a big bowl of this easy Ceviche Recipe and people can serve them on little plates.
For this particular recipe, I used Corvina fish but you can certainly use another firm fish like sea bass or snapper. Just avoid oily fishes like Salmon.
To start simply chop red pepper and onions thinly, cube the fish in little chunks, incorporate the cilantro, and lastly add salt, pepper, and freshly squeezed lime juice.
That’s it! Place it in the fridge for 15 – 20 minutes until the Ceviche is “cooked”. This is the perfect 30-minute low-fat dinner idea. The downside is not very kid-friendly (or at least my kid-friendly).
This easy Ceviche Recipe can serve as a base and later you can add different ingredients to suit your needs and tastes. You can substitute the lime for lemon or orange juice.
Also, you can use cooked shrimp and other types of seafood as well. The possibilities are endless. I’ve used soy sauce and sesame oil along with the acid (lemon, lime, or orange juice).
Have you ever eaten Ceviche? If so, what’s your favorite kind? Hope you can try my Easy Ceviche Recipe at home and come back to let me know how it was.
