Chocolate Coffee Pots De Creme
It’s the little things in life that make me happy. With this dessert, I’ve combined 2 of them in one little jar. Just one spoonful and you’ll get a shot of chocolate, coffee and delicious cream to top it off. Coffee & Chocolate are a marriage in heaven, just like sugar and spice or salt and pepper.
With life getting hectic, kids misbehaving and a demanding hubby I really need time for myself. Just knowing that these delicious Chocolate Coffee Pots De Creme jars are sitting in the fridge waiting for me brings a smile to my face. Something to look forward to every night after putting the girls to bed.
Since I am the only coffee lover here, it’s a relief knowing that my hubby will not steal them. They are just for me! my little jars of deliciousness. It’s like a pat on the back or a hug from mom.
These Chocolate Coffee Pots De Creme make an elegant and decadent dessert for parties and get-togethers. Pot De Cremes are simply custards that do not require baking or gelatin. They cook on the stove top and then chill in the fridge for a couple of hours. I chose to make 2 different layers instead of combining them for texture dimension and depth of flavor.
To make these Chocolate Coffee Pots De Creme, you start with basic ingredients: cream, egg yolks, sugar, chocolate, and coffee. That’s it! I emptied the inside of a coffee pod, it has the perfect 2 tablespoon measurement I needed and  it’s the one I drink every morning before taking the girls to school.
Don’t be fooled by the french name. These are super easy to make and do not require an overnight chill time. If you’re hosting a party that night, you can easily start making these in the afternoon.
I love serving individual desserts at dinner parties, guests will get to enjoy their own little jar. It makes it more special. They will definitely love eating layer by layer.
The coffee pot de creme tastes exactly like “cafe con leche” my favorite. The whipped cream on top rounds up all the flavors together.
